The Daniel-Scott Recruitment team are celebrating after being crowned most promising start-up business at the prestigious Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards.

The fast-growing Halesowen-based recruitment agency scooped the prize at a ceremony attended by more than 500 people on 9 November at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

This year the Black Country Chamber staged the awards with the theme of celebrating the “talent, tenacity and transformation” of local businesses, their people and their leaders.

The start-up prize honoured “a new business or venture which has started in the last three years and is able to demonstrate how its entrepreneurial vision is planning for future growth”.

Daniel-Scott Recruitment was founded in 2020 by experienced recruitment specialist Lucy Cashmore.

The agency’s recruiters are specialists within the contact centre, sales, marketing, admin and engineering sectors, offering a bespoke, consultative approach with expert advice to present the best candidates to great employers.

The business has steadily increased its sales over the past three years, taking on new clients across the country and winning repeat business with existing ones.

The agency recently expanded into new office space and new business development manager Sarah Westbury joined the team in August, bringing a wealth of experience to the business, having worked in sales and business development roles for 20 years.

Daniel-Scott Recruitment achieves impressive candidate placement retention rates of circa 85% and has been awarded five-star reviews by all clients and job candidates who have left feedback.

Daniel-Scott Recruitment director Lucy Cashmore said: “I am thrilled to see our business crowned most promising start-up business at the region’s biggest business awards.

“I am very proud of how far the agency has come in the past three years and feel extremely grateful to work with such a hardworking and talented team, who always want to deliver the best for our clients and job candidates.

“I would like to thank all the colleagues, partners and clients who have supported Daniel-Scott Recruitment on its journey so far.”

Speaking about the awards event, Black Country Chamber of Commerce CEO Sarah Moorhouse said: “It was a fantastic evening of celebration and gave us the opportunity to showcase and profile the innovative, successful, and high-performing businesses that are located right across the Black Country.

“Our awards are always popular, but we received the highest number of applications in every category this year.

“The wide range of categories resonated with many and helped give recognition to a range of sectors and business approaches, which all contribute to driving forward growth and investment across the area, as well as celebrate the region’s talent and tenacity.”

Daniel-Scott Recruitment builds strong partnerships with employers to find the right candidates to move their businesses forward while supporting candidates to forge a new career to suit their skills and experience.

Daniel-Scott Recruitment’s charity of the year is Acorns Children’s Hospice, and so far in 2023 the business has raised more than £600.
