1. Network
Connect with people in the industry on LinkedIn
Make use of the contacts you already have to look for opportunities
Stay in touch with previous colleagues/employers
2. Skills/Certifications
It can be good to learn new skills to enhance your CV
Utilise free courses offered by Gov.UK
Gain additional training for e.g. First aid, FLT and H&S
3. Work experience
If you find you lack certain skills/ experience, it can be beneficial to contact companies in the industry
State you’re eager to learn more about what they do and if they’ll allow you to shadow someone for the day
4. Organised
Keep your CV updated with new skills/certifications
It can be handy to keep all documents in one file, ready to hand over – This includes CV, certifications and proof of identity
5. Mental Health
Make sure you take plenty of breaks whilst applying for jobs to avoid being burnt out
Take one step at a time and don’t put too much pressure on yourself – Setting a routine can be helpful
